Nine Grand Strand golf courses have been recognized in South Carolina’s “Top-15 Public Layouts” list by Golfweek Magazine.
Earlier this month, Golfweek released their annual “Best Courses You Can Play” list. Every year, Golfweek’s elite team of course raters survey more 3,600 golf courses across the world. Each of the nominated courses are graded strictly for Golfweek’s 10 standards of excellence. These overall ratings are averaged together to create the final rating for each course. In addition to ranking the top courses in the United States, Golfweek also breaks their list into the Top-15 courses for every state.
The Myrtle Beach area dominated South Carolina’s top-courses list, with Grand Strand courses accounting for an astonishing 60% of the list. Leading the pack for the Myrtle Beach area courses were Dunes Golf & Beach Club and Caledonia Golf and Fish Club. Both courses were recognized in Golfweek’s “Top 100 Best Courses You Can Play” list for the United States. In South Carolina, Dunes Golf & Beach Club ranked 4th overall while Caledonia Golf and Fish Club ranked 5th.
The other Grand Strand courses recognized in Golfweek’s “Best Courses” list were True Blue Golf Plantation, Tidewater Golf Plantation, Legend’s Moorland, Heritage Golf Club, TPC Myrtle Beach, Barefoot Resort Dye Club and King’s North at Myrtle Beach National.
