Ok, we have to say it: The State of South Carolina has been on fire lately! In the past year, the championships that have been won:
- NCAA Baseball Champions – Coastal Carolina University
- NCAA Football Champions – Clemson University
- NCAA Ladies Basketball Champions – University of South Carolina
- #1 Golfer in the world – Dustin Johnson
- RBC Heritage Champion – Wesley Bryan
Let’s not forget the men’s basketball team from University of South Carolina that made it to the final four as well. 2016-2017 has turned out to be a phenomenal year for the state. Are we done yet? Maybe. Maybe not. With the way Dustin Johnson has been playing this year – we may have another major championship in golf as well. Only time will tell. For now – we’ll celebrate the championships that we already have and keep on pushing for more. Not from South Carolina? That’s OK – we’ll still root for others and teams from other states, but don’t be surprised if the Palmetto states claims another victory before the year is up.
The latest victor on the PGA tour is Wesley Bryan. Perhaps we need to give you a little background on this SC Native. Wesley Bryan was born in Columbia, SC and went to the University of South Carolina. He turned pro in 2012, and this year finished in the top 5 twice before his breakout win at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head. Perhaps it is fitting that his first PGA Tour win came in his home state of South Carolina – during the same year of all the other state championships.
Congrats to Wesley Bryan, a South Carolina native on your first PGA Tour win! Well played and well deserved. Here’s to many more.
