This past June, Sea Trail Golf Resort and Conference Center was sold at a Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction for $8.5 million. The purchaser was a Chinese businessman known as Mr. Pan. He is currently spending more money to improve the courses.
Chad Wiebelhaus has been named the new director of golf and he states that there have been cosmetic improvements made around the facility and its Jones course is the first to be renovated.
A bunker renovation has commenced, and it will include new drainage and white sand in every bunker. The course will remain open as bunkers are done one at a time, and traps receiving work will be played as ground under repair.
The course is currently taking bids to redo the cart paths and they hope to begin that project by the end of the year.
Tees, fairways and greens have been overseeded on the Jones, Byrd and Maples courses and there are plans to renovate the other courses after the Jones work is completed.
Sea Trail has also started a membership drive.
