Golf season is in full swing, (pun intended) and there may be a few things that you want to add to your game. Possibly one of the most sought out aspects of one’s game is adding a few extra yards on your drive. These tips won’t necessarily turn you into the next Bryson Dechambeau but hopefully, they will help you outdrive your buddies on those long par 5 holes.

A few Tips:
One of the most important things to remember when swinging your driver is the angle of attack. This can be described as the launch angle of the ball coming off the club. Launch angle is what baseball players use to hit bigger and longer home runs. Swinging under the ball creates more lift and gives the ball more time to travel further. Some ways to create a better launch angle include teeing the ball a bit higher and positioning the ball closer to your front leg. This allows you to make contact with your ball on more of an upswing. Another helpful tip is to drop your back shoulder on your downswing. This creates leverage for your club and gives you a positive angle of attack.
This graphic shows what the launch angle is and how the club makes contact with the ball on the upswing.
Now obviously, there is much more that goes into adding yards to your driver game. Swing speed is what really creates distance for your drives, but these things will get you that extra push you need to turn your pars to birdies.
