I just finished my second year as a volunteer at “Monday After the Masters” celebrity Pro Am and I would like to say it was a great day. Hootie and the Blowfish front man, Darius Rucker, started this tournament 20 years ago to benefit South Carolina children’s education program and the South Carolina junior golf program. To date the tournament has raised over 5 million dollars and is still going strong.
My job this year was checking in the pros and celebrities for their breakfast before golf and I got to check in names like Nancy Lopez, Rich Beem, Jim Furyk, Jim McMahon, Jim Cantori and South Carolina’s own Dustin Johnson and many, many more.
The Barefoot Dye course is a great venue for this event and we hope it will continue to be held here at the beach for many years to come. It is a great time and benefits a couple of great causes. The celebrities keep us laughing with their antics and the pros keep us in awe with their playing, so it makes for a perfect day.
I feel proud to have been a part of this event.
