The march towards spring has officially begun, and the time is right for a once in a lifetime Myrtle Beach golf getaway.
With over 100 championship golf courses, each engineered by the most respected names in golf and tailored towards every playing level, the Grand Strand has a golf course to meet everyone’s signature playing style and preference. With so many courses to choose from, however, it may be difficult to decide where you and your friends want to play first. Not to worry, the Myrtle Beach Golf Authority is here to make your decision a little easier with in-depth looks at a few of the Grand Strand’s most popular golf courses.
This week we will be looking at the one and only Dye Club at Barefoot Resort!
Nestled in the heart of North Myrtle Beach, like a gleaming jewel at the center of a crown, the Dye Club at Barefoot Resort represents Grand Strand golfing at its finest. The only semi-private golf course at the world-renowned Barefoot Resort, the Dye Club plays to a Par-72, and measures 7,343-yards from the tees.
Designed in 2000 by legendary course architect Pete Dye, the Dye Club features its namesake architect’s signature flair for both beauty and danger. The visually stunning design is filled with the infamous pitfalls for wayward shots that have become synonymous with the Dye name.
Famous for his use of native grasses, Dye’s design incorporates lush GN-1 Bermuda grass—a hybrid developed by Greg Norman Turf—into long, winding fairways. When combined with Tifdwarf Bermudagrass approaches, immaculate Champion UltraDwarf greens and Zoysia and Centipede roughs, the dramatic visual effect of the course is nothing short of stunning.
In addition to an endless litany of prestigious awards, the Dye Club is best known for hosting the legendary Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters tournament. Every April, thousands of golf fans descend upon this legendary layout to marvel at this star-studded event. The Dye Club also has the distinction as being one of three courses at Barefoot featured on the Golf Channel’s reality show—Big Break.
Both beautiful and treacherous, the Dye Club is a can’t miss experience for any true-blue golfer. Once you experience the Dye Club difference, you’ll never want to play anywhere else.
